SUPPORTING ORGANISATIONS

On 05/04/2000, our company was established as a Saudi joint stock company. This was achieved by virtue of the Cabinet Order No. 169 dated 11/08/1419H. which supplied the merger of all Saudi electricity companies in the Central, Eastern, Western and Southern Regions in addition to the ten small companies operating in the north of the Kingdom as well as all other electricity operations managed by The General Electricity Corporation, into a single joint stock company which is now known as Saudi Electricity Company.

As part of Saudi Arabia's water & wastewater sector restructuring  and reforms, a seperate entity National Water Company (NWC) was established in June 2008. The National water company is dedicated to providing quality water and wastewater management services to all citizens and residents, while promoting and encouraging skill enahancement and career progess for its employees and staff on a sound commercial basis. It is the collective efforts and shared responsibilty of the governement and the employees fo the Naitonal Water Company that will propel the Kingdom and its water and wastewater management utility sector into a position where high-quality service is both the standard and the norm.
SWCC is a saudi government corporation responsible for desalinating sea water, in order to augment the supply of potable water to coastal and inland cities in the Kingdom. SWCC is also the second largest electric power producer in the Kingdom.

The Electricity & Co-Generation Regulatory Authority (ECRA) is a financially and administratively independent Saudi organisation, which regulates the electricity and water desalination industry in Saudi Arabia to insure provision of adequate, high quality and reliable services at reasonable prices.

The International Private Water Association (IPWA) was formed in 1999 to address the changing dynamics that are taking place in individual countries around the world within the context of the evolving water/wastewater infrastructure project and service arena.  The Association serves as a conduit between the public and private sector players - facilitating effective timely dialogues that highlight the critical need for speed, transparency and cost-effectiveness in the development/operations of global water and wastewater projects, and the practical means for achieving those elements in projects.

UNDP is the UN's global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 166 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the people of UNDP and our wide range of partners.

The EU-GCC Clean Energy Network (http://www.eugcc-cleanergy.net) is an initiative created and supported by the European Commission (EC) and by relevant Gulf Co-Operation Council authorities to:
•    Support and enhance the long term strategic EU – GCC energy relationship, addressing specifically clean energy issues.
•    Develop concrete cooperation activities of common interest on clean energy (including policy, research and technology aspects) among various stakeholders across the EU and GCC countries.

The Network initiated its first activities in December 2009. Since September 2010, five Discussion Groups of experts have been created to support activities in the following focus areas: DGr1: Renewable Energy Sources; DGr2: Energy Demand Side Management & Energy Efficiency; DGr3: Clean Natural Gas & related Clean Technologies; DGr4: Electricity Interconnections & Market Integration; DGr5: Carbon Capture and Storage.
